Here’s what you need to know about the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.


Every September, world leaders gather at United Nations Headquarters in New York for the high-level week of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), where they work together to seek solutions to some of humanity’s most pressing challenges.

From tackling the climate emergency to addressing global health concerns to reducing inequalities; leaders at UNGA 78 will share their ideas and vision for creating a better future for all.

During the General Debate, world leaders will take the podium to explore solutions to the multitude of intertwined challenges facing the world today. The theme for the 78th session will focus on the need to rebuild trust and reignite global solidarity as we approach the halfway point in our efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

The SDG Summit, which will put a spotlight on the need to recommit and take action to achieve the 17 Global Goals. The Summit will showcase bold actions and solutions that are needed to ensure a sustainable future.

UN Secretary-General António GuterresClimate Ambition Summit will focus on the need to accelerate action from governments, businesses, finance, local authorities and civil society. By showcasing “first movers and doers”, the Summit will explore the leadership, solutions, and ambitious actions that are driving the push towards a more sustainable future.
