Practicing atheist June 17 спрашивает: или как за умного сойти, и на вопрос не ответить
Why do Slovenia and Czechia feel like Austria? Are they just Austrians speaking a Slavic language? Why do they have Austrian culture?
Genetics don’t lie:
Slavs originate in the east, in the Russian and Ukrainian steppe most likely and migrated westwards in the 6th and 7th centuries C.E., settling an area from eastern Germany, Austria, most of Balkans and everything to the east from that. Some tribes were soon conquered by their more advanced neighbors, Bavarians took over what are now Austria and Slovenia, Hungarians took over what is now Hungary, which caused the weird geographical split between south Slavs and the rest.
In Romania, Slavic settlers were likely assimilated into the local culture, in modern Austria and Hungary the two populations mixed and adopted German and Hungarian languague respectively, in Czechia, Slovakia and Slovenia the old slavic languague contined to dominate. Population mixing still occured, but the slavic languague won out in these three.
As to why the culture is similar to that of Austria, ask the Habsburgs. [генетика не врёт, потому что молчит? вопрос не к ней, но ответ налит сэ]
Austrian empire
