The World's Refugee Population

According to a new report released by the UNHCR, the number of people fleeing war, persecution and conflict exceeded 80 million by mid-2020, the highest level that the organization has seen in its 70 years of existence. "For people forced to flee, COVID-19 became an additional protection and livelihoods crisis on top of the global public health emergency," the organization warns, adding that "the virus has disrupted every aspect of human life and severely worsened existing challenges for the forcibly displaced and stateless."

According to the UNHCR, two thirds of all refugees and displaced people originated from just five countries in mid-2020, while the top 10 countries of origin accounted for 82 percent of the global total. Even though the war in Syria has been winding down, more than 6.5 million Syrians remain displaced outside of their home country.

Syria's refugees have a huge global footpint and are hosted by 127 countries, with Turkey (3.6 million), Lebanon (884,000) and Jordan (658,000) the most important host countires, while Germany (562,000) and Sweden (114,000) host the largest Syrian refugee populations outside the immediate region.Infographic: Mapping The World's Refugee Population | Statista
Украина и Беларусь, конечно, столько беженцев не дадут, но для их населения цифры существенные
