The Craft Brewers Conference is the industry’s largest U.S. gathering and it’s set to kick off in Denver today [8 апреля]. 14,000 attendees are expected, along with 1,000 exhibitors with nearly 100 seminars taking place. The Brewers Association released its annual growth figures and there’s good news for small and independent brewers. The craft beer revolution is still going strong and the industry’s market share has reached a volume of 13.2 percent. Revenue has grown 7 percent since last year and its dollar share of the market is even more impressive at 24.1 percent.
What a difference a decade makes. As the following infographic shows, small and independent brewers produced 8.5 million barrels of craft beer in 2008 while there were 1,500 breweries. By last year, output climbed to nearly 26 million barrels while the brewery count has grown to more than 7,000. There were 2,594 brewpubs, 4,521 microbreweries and 231 regional breweries scattered across the country in 2018.
