Sexual Offences Act,July 27, 1967

Gluck (1942) by Hannah Gluckstein (1895–1978)
It's only 50 years since homosexuality was partly decriminalised in England and Wales—the Sexual Offences Act entered the statute books on July 27, 1967. Scotland had to wait until 1980. A milestone like this is an opportunity to reflect on both the huge strides lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people have made since—both in terms of legal equality and social acceptance—and to avoid complacency about what remains to be achieved.
